
Elizabeth “Betsy” Frith Woods, a former news journalist and public relations counselor, died September 30, 2014. Mrs. Woods was a general assignments reporter and feature writer for the Times Picayune and later an account executive with Scott Wilson and Associates, PR counselors. She is a former board member of the Children’s Bureau of New Orleans, the Junior Philharmonic Society, and the Causeries du Lundi; a member of France-Amerique, Le Petit Salon, and The Orleans Club. Betsy was born April 13, 1920 in Bogalusa and had resided in New Orleans since 1940. She was educated in Switzerland, France, Sweden, and Germany, and was a journalism student at Tulane University. She is survived by her husband, James Brison Woods, their son, Doctor Sun-Hwan Chu of Chattanooga, TN, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew. Betsy was the sister of the late Sarah Ann Frith Sweazea of Atlanta, Ga. Memorial service to be held Saturday, October 4, 2014, 12:00pm at the St. Anna’s Chapel in Lambeth House, 150 Broadway St., New Orleans, LA 70118, with a reception to follow.
