Elsa Herrera Zeringue

Elsa H. Zeringue passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 71, surrounded by family, after a brave battle fought against cancer. She was born on March 30, 1954, in Coban, Guatemala and was a resident of Mandeville, LA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Florencia Herrera and brother, Alan Herrera.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Zeringue (Kristi) and Adam Zeringue (Alyssa) and grandchildren, Paisely Zeringue, Emersyn Zeringue, Grayson Alison, Mallory Cartwright, Bailey Cartwright, and Caitlyn Deal. She is also survived by her siblings, Zulie Herrera, Ronnie Herrera, and Eduardo Herrera (Jenny), nieces, Donna Herrera, Gabby H. Whitecotton, and Amy Taylor, nephews, Sean Stann and Mario Ulloa, and great-nephew, Jim A. Clinton.

Elsa graduated from Warren Easton High School and attended UNO for 2 years for business. She worked at First American Bank and Trust for 16 years as a bank teller. She loved to travel, attend her grandson’s baseball games, and eat her heritage foods. She was a sports fan and a huge pet lover. She also enjoyed listening to live music and dancing and would follow her favorite band. Elsa will be remembered for always welcoming people and helping others in need.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Maronge, MD, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in St. Tammany, St. Tammany Hospital, Geaux Fight Physical Therapy, David M. Griffin, and their church family, friends, and neighbors for all their love and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Celebration Church Kenner Campus, 3550 Williams Blvd. Kenner, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM with a service to begin at 11:30 AM. Inurnment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
