Elsie Castro Scariano

Elsie Castro Scariano passed away on November 9, 2016 at the age of 81. Dearly beloved wife of Jack J. Scariano, Jr. Mother of Blaine Michael Barre’ (Connie), Dr. Barton C. Barre’ (Paulette) and Brett Stephen Barre’ and the late Clayton Brooke Barre’, Jr. Daughter of the late Alfredo Castro of Merida, Mexico and Emily LeBlanc Castro. Sister of June Dermoody and the late Alfredo Castro, Jr. Grandmother of Isabella Barre’, Brooke Barre’, Blake Barre’, and the late Bryce Michael Barre’. Great grandmother of Audrey Barre’. Stepmother of Jack J. Scariano, III, Mark Scariano and Craig Scariano. Elsie graduated from Dominican High School and attended Loyola University. She was a member in St. Elizabeth Guild, St. Pius Prayer Group, Legatus, New Orleans Ballet Association (BRAVO) and Casa Argentina. Thank you to the many caretakers she has had over the years with special thanks to Dr. John Finney, Tina M. Bacchus and Sharon Alexander. With these challenges, she picked up her cross and followed Jesus. Elsie’s deep Catholic faith has guided her through all she has faced during her life with dignity and grace. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Much love to the family and friends who participated with Elsie in a Rosary at her bedside. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Service at St. Angela Merici Church, 835 Melody Drive, Metairie, 70002 on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a funeral mass to follow. Interment will be in Lakelawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elsie’s name may be made to Sisters Servants of Mary, 5001 Perlita Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70122.
