Ernest Paul Carriere Jr.

He was the proud father of Ernest Paul Carriere III (Sue), Barbara Allen (Marc), Richard Carriere, Donald Carriere (Annette), and Renée Nason (Wallace). He was the step father of Michael De La Cerda, David De La Cerda, Richard De La Cerda (Rhonda), and Shannon De La Cerda. Grandfather of Cher Cher Marsino, Carly Childs (Bobby), Lyndsay Nason, Adam De La Cerda, Sarah De La Cerda, Jackie De La Cerda, Mark Carriere, Michael Carriere, and Hannah Minitch (Buck). Great grandfather of Jayce and Ella Minitch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Paul, Sr. and Ida Gazave Carriere, and sisters, Ethelyn Mae “Maizey” Fry and Lorainne Carriere Masters.

Ernie graduated Jesuit High School in 1944 and promptly joined the United States Navy where he served with the Seabees on the island of Guam. After World War II ended, he attended Loyola University.

He retired from BellSouth in 1989 after a 40 year career. He enjoyed his free time volunteering, gardening, travelling, and fine dining. Ernie lived his life as an honorable, loving man and will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard in New Orleans, on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at a later date.
