He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Schilling, and his son, Ernest Micheal "Mikey" Schilling.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Jeanne Schilling, for 40 years; his mother, Bennie Mae Schilling, and his son, David Felix Schilling. He also leaves behind his sisters, Joyce Trosclair, Betty Dietell, Gloria Edwards, and Mary Lessard; his brothers, Wayne Schilling and Edward Schilling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Praise Church of New Orleans. Ernest enjoyed spending his time engaging in various activities, including solving puzzles, building model cars, reading the Bible, and gardening.
His life was a testament to his love for his family and his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services for Ernest held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Friday, January 2, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until the service begins at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
