

Fidencio S. Arguelles a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and friend, Fidencio passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015. He was 90 years old and a resident of Metairie. Fidencio was born in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico on November 26, 1925. He grew up in Belize, British Honduras and graduated from St. John’s College, in Belize and studied at the University of Yucatan in Merida. He moved to Mexico City and worked as an assistant editor for Mexican tourist magazine and proof reader of a leading Mexican publishing house. He was a Commercial Officer for the Canadian Embassy in Mexico for 21 years. He then retired to New Orleans. He decided to return to work and became housekeeping manager at Maison Blanche, where he was lovingly known as “Rock”. Fidencio is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rosella Oliva Arguelles, children Carla Hernandez, Alejandra Hernandez, Marco Arguelles, Victor Arguelles (Betty), Rosella Ledet (John); grandchildren Brittany Arguelles, Maria Arguelles, Gabriella Arguelles, Victor Arguelles, Sage Arguelles and Lauren Ledet; sister Elsa Shamah and brother Mario Arguelles and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fidencio Arguelles and Adelina Leal Arguelles; daughter Sandra Arguelles, as well as his sisters Irma Ortega, Ena Castillo and Viola Jeffery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans on Saturday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00am.
