

Gladiola, affectionately known as Duddy, was a native of New Orleans, La.
She was born on April 9, 1929 to the late Laura Grennon Pauli and Peter George Pauli. Gladiola attended Sophie B. Wright High School in New Orleans. Earlier in her life, she worked for DH Holmes, Southern Bell, and continued as a homemaker. Gladiola was a longtime parishioner of St. Rita Church in Harahan, where she volunteered her service by working in the cafeteria and other activities as an active parishioner. She also was one of the Matriarch’s of the Tyler Street Gang. She was a member of the New Neighbors Homemakers Club, the Funseekers Club, and the DD Club. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, baking, casino bus trips, Bunko nights, playing cards, sewing, ceramics, traveling, entertaining her friends and family, and dressing in style. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Charles Carson (Tricia), Craig Patrick Carson (Dorothy), and Julie Carson Loup (David); her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Mawmaw Duddy”, Jill C. Wille (Shawn), Nicki C. Pejsach (Tim), Tracy C. Canosa (Julio), Benjamin Craig Carson (Michelle), Jack Aaron Carson (Meaghan), Paul Elliott Carson (Venessa), Kailinn Rose Carson (Chris Feagans), Blake David Brown (Michelle), Megan Loup, and Carson Loup; thirteen great-grandchildren, Evan, Kohen, Summer, Kaitlin, Ava, Sophia, Lily, Penelope, Sloane, Rhys, Flynn, Brett, and Morgan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John Fuller Carson Jr., and eldest son, John Fuller Carson, III; her sisters, Laura P. Dicharry (Jack), Catherine P. Rickelman (Maurice), and Esther P. Lacosta (Robert); her brothers; Peter George Pauli (Bertha), Edwin Charles Pauli (Marian), Joseph Francis Pauli (Janice), Norman William Pauli (Theresa), Lawrence Valentine Pauli, and William Grennon Pauli (Mary).
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers; Debbie Boudreaux and Darlene Lisotta Howell, and to the neighbors of 820 Gardon Ave. in Harahan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church, 7100 Jefferson Hwy. in Harahan, on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 12:00PM. A visitation at the church will begin at 10:30AM. The interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park.
