

Irene Beadle Dardis, beloved mother, sister, and friend died peacefully at home on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at the age of 90. She was a native of Reserve and longtime resident of New Orleans and Metairie. Preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Edward P. Dardis, and her parents, Frank and Levie Beadle, brothers Henry, Richard, Franklin and Milton Beadle, sisters Ruby B. Sillars, Myrtle B. Love, Dianne B. Navarre Allen, and grandson, Matthew Dardis. She is survived by her six children, Ed Dardis, Jr. (Mary Ann), Anne Dardis, John Dardis (Lori), Michael Dardis (Ana), Karen D. Schembre (John), Joan D. Chifici (Mark), 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was an active parishioner of St. Edward Church, a member of Hilltoppers, Metro Republican Women’s Club, Jefferson Republican Women’s Club, and served as a delegate to State and National Republican Conventions. She was an example of service to others as a past volunteer with the Red Cross, Civil Defense, Access, Right to Life, Adult Literacy, and various church ministries. Special thanks to those who helped care for her over the past several years so that she could remain with her family. Visitation will be at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in the chapel there at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
