

Isabel Gardner Larue of New Orleans, born April 12, 1928 in Texarkana, Tx, died peacefully at home among family on Thursday, July 26, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Dr. William Preston Gardner and Isabel Carré Gardner. She was also predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Louis Philippe de Vesine Larue of New Orleans, and her brother, William Preston Gardner Jr of Birmingham, Al.
Survivors include her children Michel Preston Larue (Kathy) of Richmond, Va, Susan Ann Larue of New Orleans, Steven John Larue (Linda) of Richmond, Va, Paul Louis Larue (Karlyn) of Denham Springs, La, and Christopher Edouard Larue (Frances) of Lafayette, La, and grandchildren Rachel Larue of Alexandria, Va, Philip Larue of Richmond, Va, and Irene, Emily, Sarah, Joseph and Helen Larue of Denham Springs.
Mrs. Larue graduated from McMain High School and Newcomb College with a BFA degree and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She and Louis were ardent music lovers and met while singing in college with the Festival Choir and in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. They became engaged after graduation and were married on August 16, 1952.
One of her favorite pastimes was painting and she left numerous works of art for her children and grandchildren. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of New Orleans and a long time member of Woodland Presbyterian Church where she was on The Session, chairman of several committees, taught Sunday school and was active in the Women of the Church.
Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Saturday, September 1 at 11am, followed by a memorial service at 1pm and burial in Metairie Cemetery.
