Jason Donald Rockwell

Jason D. Rockwell passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Those who knew him well know that he loved all things New Orleans and was an avid Saints fan. He also enjoyed listening to music, watching MMA fights, playing basketball, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was the happiest when in the company of others – enjoying in New Orleanian traditions, like crawfish boils, music festivals, and Mardi Gras parades. He also loved teaching his nephews how to swim, dive, and do cannonballs, as well as playing Nerf gun games. Jason had the fondest memories of his early days playing sports, starting with swim team at The Beach Club followed by basketball at Johnny Bright playground. He always said if he had put in the work in his teenage years, he could have “gone all the way”. Jason was an outgoing and optimistic person who was also quietly and deeply spiritual. Since September 2006, he mourned the loss of his older brother, Ryan Rockwell, who proceeded him in death. Jason had never met a stranger and believed everyone, no matter their physical appearance, was beautiful. He will always be remembered for his pure heart, rambunctious laugh, generosity, kindness, compassion, and love of people and life.

Jason is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cheryl and C. Scott Kirk, his father and stepmother, Richard and Maeola Rockwell, his sister, Ashley Rockwell Holbrook (Chapman), stepsiblings, Adam Kirk (Jennifer), Nancy Kirk, Brett Blakley, Brooke Agers (Brad), his nephews, Carter, Andrew, and Alexander Holbrook, Alex Agers, Dylan Blakley, his nieces, Megan, Addison, and Kendyl Kirk, Erin Agers, and his aunts Kaye Wadsworth (John) and Denice Wood, plus multiple cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald Johnson and Elaine Eberle, his paternal grandparents, Gordon and Twila Rockwell, and his paternal aunt and uncle, Brenda and David Reed.
