Joseph Fernan Gonzalez, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was 91 years of age. Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Rosemary Norvell Gonzalez. Son of the late Fernan Roger Gonzalez and Mercedes Amparo Ortiz Gonzalez. Loving father of Rosemary “Cookie” Reeb (C J), Emile H. “Skip” Jacobs (Ilene), Joseph F. “Joel” Gonzalez, Jr. (Mimi), and the late Jan Alma Gonzalez. Brother of Mercedes Weiser Latapie. Adoring Grandfather of Jill R. Billot, Tracy R. Santos, Todd M. Jacobs, Brittany J. Krennerich, Joel S. Gonzalez, and Alexandra “Allie” G. Sens. Great-grandfather of Tré Wainwright, Holly Santos, Trent Santos, Kate Gonzalez, Caroline Gonzalez, Sawyer Krennerich, Ellie Krennerich, and Aidan Krennerich; and great-great-grandfather of Rylie Wainwright.

Joseph was born in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the United States Army. He was vice-president of cash management at Hibernia National Bank. He was a parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church for over 60 years, and was a member and president of the Sages.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124, on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 10:00AM. Visitation will begin from 9:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
