

Joshua “Josh” Preston Pumphrey passed gently in his sleep at the young age of 40 on March 19, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Josh was born on May 20, 1982 to Brenda Levy Schneider and Michael Pumphrey. After attending Metairie Park Country Day School and South Kent School, he went on to receive his Culinary Arts degree from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles.
Josh worked in kitchens around Los Angeles and New Orleans before settling into his Chief Operating Officer role in his family business, The Schreier Family Group.
Josh is survived by his mother, Brenda Levy Schneider and step-father, Myron Schneider. He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer Hatch, her husband David and his nephews, Zack and Miles. Additionally, he is survived by step-siblings Brett Schneider and his daughters Riley and Maya, Stacy Boegem, her husband Sacha and son Jay, and Scott Schneider, his wife Alli and daughter Ellie. He leaves behind friends across the country that were like family to him.
Josh was a kind, loyal and gentle soul with a tremendous heart and wit. He loved his family beyond measure. He loved New Orleans and the community that surrounded him. He was an exceptional chef, storyteller, friend, brother and son. He will be missed every day.
A Memorial Celebration will be held for him at The Half Moon Bar & Grill in New Orleans, Sunday, March 26th from 1pm-3pm; community welcome.
