

Joy was born April 4, 1928 to Salvador A. Pizzo, Sr. and Ottalie Eisbruckner in New Orleans, Louisiana. During World War II she was a Red Cross Nurse, and afterward she spent her life devoted to her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed boating on Lake Pontchartrain and along the Gulf Coast, volunteering at schools, being a member of the Ferran-Taft Garden Club, playing Scrabble and Bridge, and supporting the Saints.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years and the father of her children, James H. Wilson, and her second husband of 28 years, Samuel H. McAfee, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Salvador A. Pizzo, Sr. and Ottalie Eisbruckner, as well as her brother, Salvador A. Pizzo, Jr.
Joy is survived by her loving daughters, Joni Wilson Diaz (Tommy) and Judy Wilson Schlag (Joe); her grandsons, Grant James McClure (Annie) and Philip Walter Purcell; and her great-grandsons, Thomas Grayson McClure, Harrison Woodward McClure, and Patrick Wilson McClure.
The family will be holding a private graveside inurnment for close family members to celebrate her long and well-lived life.
