We met Kevin while we stationed in Hanau, Germany with his parents in 1975 and he was kind and caring as a child.  He was protective even then. My heart breaks for the family.  Rest in peace.

Dear Johnson family, I am so very sorry for the tragic loss of your beloved Kevin. My relationship with Kevin began in his senior year at Jonesboro High School while I was coaching at UTC. I had the honor of recruiting and signing Kevin to a football scholarship in 1990.  I remember him to be  excellent in the classroom as well as on the field of play. My condolences to the Johnson family.  My only connection is being a Tulane fan and enjoying watching Patrick (PJ) perform on the field. I now live in Chattanooga and (through wearing TU gear) I've met so many people who had great stories to share with me about Patrick and his family.  I know he made his father proud.   May peace be with this family.

Kevin was the son-in -law that all parents want to see their daughter marry.  He always put his family first beyond anything else.  He was an outstanding father to my three wonderful grandchildren, and I loved him dearly.  
Kevin was a concrete pillar of a man who took whatever  life sent his way with grace and dignity.  I will miss him very much and I will miss seeing his eyes shine with pride as he thought of each of his children and their accomplishments in life.
When we lost Kevin, we lost a special gift that God had blessed us with for too short of a time.

I didn't know Odell, but his son is a genuine representative of the culture of Tulane.  I graduated from Tulane in 1964, and Patrick will also make Tulane and his family proud of him.  I am genuinely saddened by your loss because Patrick Johnson, I am sure, made his father proud.

My favorite memory of Kevin was when my family came to visit the summer of 2012. We drove from New York to visit with Leah and check out Chattanooga. He kindly welcomed us to his home and showed us around. I had the pleasure of sitting next to him at one of their favorite restaurant (it was in Chattanooga and had a lazy Susan in the middle of the table, but I forgot the name of it sorry). He taught me all the details of the delicious Southern food I was trying for the first time in my life. I had so much fun. We all did.  My heart aches for Leah and Kevin's children. He was so loved and he loved so much. The man was embodiment of love, devotion, kindness, and self-sacrifice for his family. His light and love will never be forgotten. His memory will always reign strong.
