OBITUARY

Larry Daniel Sears

2 September, 1953 – 28 December, 2023
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Larry Daniel Sears went to his eternal home in heaven on December 28, 2023 at the age of 70. He was born at Tyndall Air Force Base near Panama City, FL on September 2, 1953 to Daniel Henry and Patsy Mast Sears. As the son of an Air Force Master Sargent, Larry spent his early years growing up in numerous U.S. Cities as well as the Philippines. Later his family settled in Fort Walton Beach, FL where Larry completed High School and Junior College. During this time, Larry developed a love for music. He played the trumpet in the school marching band and taught himself the guitar and piano. After Junior College Larry moved to New Orleans to play in a band and finish his education. He graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Physics/Geology. Larry was recruited out of college as a Geophysicist by Gulf Oil Co./Chevron U.S.A. where he retired after a successful 30-year career. Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed participating in and was a fan of many different sports. Larry also combined his love of sports with his love of travel. He visited all 50 states including stops at all of the Major League Baseball stadiums. And for 35 years he joined his close friends Rob, Ron and Tom for an annual "Golfarama" golfing trip. While working at Chevron, Larry met the love of his life, Lori Picolo, and they married in 2005. They later moved to Pensacola Beach, Florida and enjoyed the easy-going beach life. Larry gave Lori the beautiful gift of wonderful memories by taking her around the world. Those memories will live on in Lori and continue to enrich her and her family’s lives. Larry was an amazingly generous, kind and selfless person who is greatly missed by his family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Dan and Patsy Sears. He is survived by wife, Lori Picolo Sears; stepsons, Robbie (Ashley) Mirsberger and Micah (Lynzi) Mirsberger; brothers, Lanny Sears, and Dennis (Lindsay) Sears; step mother, Sandi Sears; Stepsister, Samantha (Jon) Kinard; two granddaughters, Aubree and Autumn Mirsberger, and many nieces and nephews. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Lori would like to thank all the family and friends who shared their prayers, love and support throughout Larry's battle with brain cancer. The family invites you to share thoughts, fond memories and condolences online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
