

Lawrence J. “Larry” Guichard Sr. passed to the eternal abode of his Heavenly Father on September 30, 2014 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Zorka Tadin Guichard, and his second wife of 3 years, Thais Ruth Kuck Guichard; one granddaughter Marie Danielle Guichard; also by his father and mother Aubin J. and Ophelia Kornrumpf Guichard; three sisters, Yvonne Busurelo, Elaine Cyrus, and Yvette Bayham. He is survived by his daughters, Janelle Guichard, Suzanne Guichard McDaniel, Deanne Guichard Raymond; sons Lawrence Guichard Jr., and Kenneth Guichard; and stepdaughter Cheryl Wilson Smith Cheramie. He is also survived by 12 grand children, 7 great grand children, and 11 nephews and one niece. Lawrence served in the U.S. Army, 104th Infantry Division “Timberwolves” and was in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. His professional career included over 25 years at Tulane University. Lawrence was an avid bowler, who bowled a 300 game and at the age of 80 bowled a 799 series. Lawrence loved writing poetry and was a longtime parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church 4921 W Metairie Ave, Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00am until service time. Interment will take place following the service at St. Louis Cemetery #3. Masses preferred.
