He was a native New Orleanian, born February 3, 1939.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Eugene Hooper, Sr. and Louise Costley Hooper. He is survived by his sons, Christian (Deirdre) and Andre (Kristen), and five grandchildren, as well as his sisters, Charlotte Hooper of Montreal, Canada and Dixie Hooper Depp of New Orleans. He was married to Joan von Kurnatowski until 1987.
He attended Sam Barthe School, St. Martin's Episcopal School, and Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama, followed by LSU and Tulane University. He loved sailing, biking, hiking, canoeing and the Mississippi River. He was a member of the Southern Yacht Club, Crescent City Cyclists among others.
Services will be private.
