It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Ruth Summer. She was truly an extraordinary individual, known for her compassion, empathy, and kindness toward others, especially her three wonderful children, their spouses, and her eight exceptional grandchildren. Her outgoing personality and marvelous sense of humor drew people to her, and anyone who met her quickly sought her friendship.
Her funny side, often mischievous, but always genuine, had a way of brightening the lives of all her friends, reminding them that life, even with its many challenges, always has room for humor. Her legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and laughter generously shared.
While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her 85 beautiful years and the countless ways she inspired others to enjoy theirs. She was always boldly and beautifully herself, even in the most difficult of times. During her final months, her courage, warmth, and incredible humor lit up every room, even on the toughest days.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Steven Kantrow, the LSU Warren Summer Professor of Medicine; the LSU ALS Neurology Department; Guardian Angel’s Hospice; MeMe and her care team; and the 123 Walnut support system for their compassion and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the LSU ALS Foundation or the charity of your choice.
