Lois Ruth Cancienne Spellman born January 22, 1932 ascended into her new heavenly home on the evening of Tuesday, November 10, 2020 to be reunited with the loves of her life, Jesus and her beloved devoted husband of 71 years, Warren James Spellman, “Mickey”. Lois was preceded in death by her mother Lena Fanguy Cancienne, Father Herman H. Cancienne, brothers Ray and Leroy Cancienne, and her sisters Lena Rita Cancienne Cullinane and Mary Cancienne Wilson, and her husband Warren James Spellman.
Lois is survived by her daughter Linda Ann Spellman Wayman (Bill), son Michael James Spellman (Janie), brothers Herman Cancienne (Gerry), and Chris Cancienne (Barbara). Lois was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Alison, Holly, Heather, Melisa, Brandy, Brittany and 12 great-grandchildren Madison, Isabel, Haley, Autumn, Lily, Sophia, Grace, Kameron, Hannah, Gabriella, Layla, and Gage. Lois was also the great-great grandmother to Avery, Tanner, and Casper.
Lois was affectionate with all her grandchildren always saying “give me some sugar” aka kisses. Lois was a wonderful homemaker and worked for NOPSI for approximately 26 years. Lois really enjoyed decorating for holidays and kept up her Christmas tree year-round in celebration of all the holidays with her favorites being Christmas and Mardi Gras. She decorated her home adorned with Angels décor.
In her younger days she enjoyed hosting dinner parties and dancing. Lois was known for her very sharp memory and would remember every detail of anything you would tell her, even at the age of 88 years old. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother by saying her rosary daily. She was fun and fiery and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. The family is at peace knowing that she can dance again now in heaven with her beloved Mickey.
The memorial of her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana. 11:00 am friends visitation, 11:30 am Rosary, 12:00 pm Memorial Mass followed by Interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
