Loretta Valenza Roth

Loretta Valenza Roth, born January 3, 1947 passed on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the age 77. She was a graduate of Dominican High School and Loyola University. She worked over 40 years as a Medical Technologist for various doctors and clinics and was excellent at her profession. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Church and Shrine Catholic Church in Metairie and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian, Mississippi, where she sang in the church choir. She was an avid reader, an active member of the Chateau Book Club for fifteen years, and also the Kiln, Mississippi Book Club. She loved shopping and having lunch with her friends on the Gulf Coast and spending her weekends at her second retreat in Diamondhead, Mississippi. She played tennis for many years and continued to enjoy spending time with her tennis friends. She loved watching football games, especially Tulane, LSU, and the Saints.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Henry Valenza and Marie Bonfanti Valenza. She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Robert del Corral Roth, II; daughter, Jennifer Berthelot (Craig); son, Jeffrey R. Roth (Suzanne) and Jonathan Roth; grandchildren, Joseph, Bailey, Gracie Berthelot, Clare Roth and Jeffrey Roth, Jr. and was awaiting the birth of her first great grandchild; She was cousins with Paula Walsh, Sidney Bonnecarrere and Anthony Bonnecarrere.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Compassus and Ellen Singleton, who passionately cared for her over the last several months.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Ann Church and Shrine Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10:30 AM until time of service. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Hospital in Loretta’s memory.
