Lorraine was born April 3, 1926, in Galveston, Texas. She was the second of four daughters of Mr. William Freeman and Elizabeth Bocage Freeman.
Lorraine was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She attended Henry W. Allen Elementary School, Sophie B. Wright High School and Isidore Newman School. She also graduated from Newcomb College with a degree in journalism.
Lorraine’s greatest love was golf. She played at Metairie Country Club until she was 90 years old. Lorraine and her beloved husband of 27 years, Dudley C. Foley Jr. traveled around the country playing golf together. She loved to cook and entertain their friends. She continued to host parties well into her 90’s.
Lorraine’s other passion was gardening. She was a member of the Metairie Garden Club for years. She collected exotic hibiscus flowers and was an active member of the New Orleans Hibiscus Society. Lorraine daily collected her hibiscus blooms to wear with her matching outfits. Lorraine also enjoyed searching for and collecting Majolica Pottery. She spent many hours on the hunt with her adult children, Alan and Michele. She had a great zest for life. She loved to tell jokes, share her hibiscuses, and go out to lunch with friends. She will be greatly missed.
