Louis Joseph Maco, Jr., passed away at his Metairie home on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on August 27, 1953. He played soccer and baseball throughout school, spurring a longtime appreciation for sports. After attending Penn State, he began working at Sysco as a salesman, where his customers and co-workers knew him as “Sweet Lou”.
In his free time, he loved watching LSU, The Saints, and Penn State’s football games. He was an enthusiastic admirer of nature and the outdoors, provided he could do so from the comfort of his chair.
Louis took great satisfaction in watching his son raise three daughters. It brought him great delight to send his family unexpected gifts through the mail and eagerly waiting for their response. Lou was kind and friendly to everyone and loved to laugh.
He is survived by his son, Phillip Wesley Maco (Rachel Vidacovich Maco); granddaughters, Jolie Desiree, Simone Floris, and Corinne Catherine Maco; sister, Mary “Patrece “Trece” Maco; brother, Dayton Michael “Daytie” Maco; and nephews, Trevor Andrew and Hunter Tyler Maco.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Pauline Maco and Louis J. Maco, Sr.; as well as his former wife of 10 years, Floris Relfe.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Jeff Nay, Allen Cole, and Melinda Delaup.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11 AM with a chapel service following at 12 PM. Lou will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
