Maria Ligia Lopez

One of Maria’s proudest moments was on June 10, 1998, when she became a citizen of the United States of America. Despite her advancing disabilities, Maria’s faith in God was un-wavering and she was always the spiritual pillar of the family. She would often be found, in quiet meditation, praying novenas and rosaries for her family and for all of God’s children. Her love of God was closely followed by the love for her family and she was that special person that was always willing to share her time with you. Maria’s gift to world was to be that special person where faith was as important as the air we breathe.

Maria is survived by her 3 sisters, Myriam Lopez, Candida Lacombe, Imelda Ward and her 2 brothers, Paulino Lopez and Adolfo Lopez. Her wonderful spirit will be celebrated on Friday, April 6, 2018, at 12:00 pm followed by a Holy Rosary and Mass starting at 1:00 pm at the Lake Lawn Funeral Home at 5100 Ponchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, La. 70124.

María Ligia López, originaria de New Orleans, falleció el día jueves 29 de marzo, 2018. Ella era originaria de Matagalpa, Nicaragua, donde nació el 23 de abril de 1941 siendo sus padres Adolfo y Cándida López.

Uno de los momentos de mayor orgullo de María fue el 10 de junio de 1998, cuando se hizo ciudadana de los Estados Unidos de América. Independientemente de sus avanzadas discapacidades, la fe de María en el Señor fue inquebrantable y ella fue siempre el pilar espiritual de la familia. Con frecuencia ella se postraba en sus meditaciones en silencio, rezando novenas y rosarios por su familia y por todos los hijos de Dios. Su amor por Dios era seguido por el amor que tenía por su familia y ella era esa persona especial que siempre estaba dispuesta a compartir su tiempo con uno. El regalo de María para el mundo fue ser esa persona tan especial para la cual la fe era tan importante como el aire que respiramos.

A María le sobreviven sus tres hermanas, Myriam López, Cándida Lacombe, Imelda Ward y sus 2 hermanos, Paulino López y Adolfo López. Su maravilloso espíritu será celebrado este día viernes 6 de Abril de 2018 a las 2:00 p.m. seguido del rezo del Santo Rosario y una misa que iniciará a la 1:00 p.m. en Lake Lawn Funeral Home en 5100 Ponchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, La. 70124.
