Born on September 3, 1936, in Šućuraj, Hvar, Croatia. As a young child, she survived the hardships of World War II—experiences that shaped her deep faith, resilience, and gratitude for life. Marie immigrated to Argentina where she received a home economics degree before moving to New York and later to New Orleans where she was reunited with family.
Marie later married Anthony “Tako” Lulich Sr. in New Orleans where she made her home and built a full and rewarding life devoted to family. She was known for her beautiful smile, gentle spirit, and unconditional love for her children and grandchildren. Marie was an incredibly intelligent, and worldly woman. She had the vocabulary and the intelligence to tell the incredible stories that formed who she was. She lived an epic life that spanned war and peace through 3 continents. Marie was much larger than life and a character that doesn’t repeat itself often. She enjoyed traveling, swimming, reading, playing bridge, shopping, and cooking for her family. Her life was a testament to perseverance, grace, and love.
Marie’s faith always sustained her and she now rests in the peace and promise of eternal life. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were blessed to know and love her.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the Poydras Home at the Pelican wing and Anvoi Hospice staff for their compassionate care.
