Marilyn Lillian Groetsch age 70 went to be with Jesus on His Birthday, December 25th, 2016 in the 12:00 pm hour. Granddaughter of the late Frank Volpe and Angelina Carona Volpe. Beloved Only Child of the late Marcellus Adelmus Groetsch and Theresa Volpe Groetsch. Cherished and Survived by her only son, Michael Marcellus Groetsch and more cousins and relatives than I can count. She was born August 13th 1946. It is often said that it's not how you start in this life, or what happens to you in this life, but how you finish. She finished courageously with her battling two separate primary cancers. She loved the Holy Family and was a devoted Roman Catholic at St. Benilde Church in Metairie. In her earlier life she was employed by the State of Louisiana at the Jefferson Parish Health Unit as a Case Worker. She was later employed by the Jefferson Parish Library System in Branch Supervision at Library Headquarters. She loved Family, Faith, tolerated football (for me) and loved to cook, especially pasta milanese' on St. Joseph's Day! She was also a Media Missionary for international catholic television network, EWTN. She has been an inspiration to many. A friend to more. And the best friend I, her son, ever had. They broke the mold after creating my Mother. It was an honor God gracing me in having you for my Mother. I Love You Forever, Momma. May God welcome you into His Kingdom and reunite you with all of our deceased family, friends, and pets for all Eternity. In lieu of Flowers, Catholic Masses preferred as well as donations in her name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Shriner's Hospital for Children, St. Benilde Catholic Church, EWTN.com and please go to cancer.gov to learn and raise awareness about all forms of cancer for yourselves and your families. It truly unites us all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Benilde Catholic Church, 1901 Division Street in Metairie on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at St. Benilde beginning at 9:00AM. To view and sign the guest book, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
