Marion Charles "Pete" Grillot

Marion Charles “Pete” Grillot returned to God on Saturday, July 2, 2016. He was 93 years old. Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Marian Fagot Grillot. Loving father of Sr. Gwendolyn Ann Grillot, O. Carm., Andreé Marie West (Leland), Gary Charles Grillot (Beth), Roy Gerard Grillot (Janet), Stephen Charles Grillot (Grace), John Gregory Grillot (Lisa), and Michelle Marie Mayfield (Joe). He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Louis Grillot, Sr. and Marion Gerard Grillot; two brothers, Sidney Louis Grillot, Jr. and Irwin Charles Grillot; and one sister, Lois Marie Bonneval. He was affectionately known as “Pappy” to his beloved 23 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Pete was born and raised in New Orleans. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning, he graduated from Tulane University, earning degrees in both civil and mechanical engineering. He worked for Cary B. Gamble and Associates, Energy Designs, and was a member of ASHRAE. Pete was also a former member of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 4449.

The family would like to acknowledge the compassion and dignity shown by the care managers at Sunrise Assisted Living, where he established many friendships.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 12 noon. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Mount Carmel, P.O. Box 476, LaCombe, LA. 70445 and / or Passages Hospice of New Orleans.
