

Mark David Damiens, a devoted family man, accomplished pilot, and spirited adventurer passed away at home on August 7th 2023 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 28th, 1961.
Beloved husband of Laurie Vega Damiens for almost 36 years, father of Austin Damiens and Megan Damiens. Preceded in death by his parents, Marcel J. Damiens and Eva Margaret Damiens. Survived by his siblings Marcelle (Sammy) d'Hemecourt, Tab Damiens, Mignon Franco, and Michelle Hennessey. Mark's journey through life was marked by his unwavering passion for family, flying, motorcycles, and his ability to touch the hearts of those he met. After graduating from Brother Martin High School, Mark joined the Marine Reserves where he learned the values of discipline, courage, and commitment.
During this time, Mark earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans and then went on to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot. He worked for Southwest Airlines for 30 years where his dedication to aviation was evident in his involvement as a mentor and a leader.
Beyond the cockpit, Mark's love for adventure extended to his love of motorcycles. He fearlessly embarked on rides that spanned the entire country, relishing the open road with so many family and friends. Whether racing on a track or cruising down a scenic highway, his passion for motorcycles was an integral part of his identity. His colleagues and friends remember him for his genuine kindness and integrity. He possessed a remarkable ability to forge connections with people from all walks of life, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to have known him. Mark Damiens will forever be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a man who embraced life's challenges with bravery, touched the lives of those around him with his warmth, and lived his passions to the fullest.
The family wished to give special thanks to Canon Hospice and Hiroko Gresham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be held at St. Ann's Church & National Shrine 4940 Meadowdale St. Metairie, LA on Friday August 11th at 1pm. Visitation from 10am-1pm. He will be laid to rest at Lake Lawn Park.
