Martha Evelyn Harris departed this world on Friday, April 26, 2019. In her 94 years of life, she blessed all who knew her. There is no doubt she went straight to heaven to be with those who preceded her in death, her parents, Glenn and Leona Hutson, her brother Glen Hutson, her sisters, Mary Culbertson and Jean Campbell, her 1st husband Charles Luther Parham, III, her 2nd husband William Harris, her sons, Charles Luther Parham, IV and Glen Howard Parham and many other people she loved dearly. Martha was born October 9, 1924 in Waco, TX. After graduating Waco HS (eleventh grade) in 1941, she moved to Sherman, TX where she raised her boys the majority of their lives. Although she graced other places with her presence (Casper, WY, Dearborn, MI, Tampa, FL and Kenner, LA) she always considered Texas her home. She loved her family, she loved to sing, she loved to dance, she loved to read, she loved to drive and she loved to laugh. Martha is survived by her daughter-in-law; Lori Parham, her step-daughter Barbara Harris and step-son Joe Harris, her grandchildren Charles Luther Parham, V, Michelle Lee Wilson and Joshua Parham, 7 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and countless other loved ones. Martha would frequently quote noteworthy poets or authors, and after her passing, we discovered one final quote that she always kept with her: “The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” Which truly defined the way that she lived life.
