Merle Van Vrancken Artigues, born Merle Isabelle Van Vrancken on October 2, 1951, in New Orleans, Louisiana, departed this life on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the age of 73. A proud member of the first graduating class of Grace King High School, Merle embodied resilience, love, and dedication throughout her life.

Merle was the beloved mother of Michelle Marie Artigues (Wade) and Robert Andrew Artigues Jr. (Stacy). She is survived by her cherished brothers, Johnny W. Van Vrancken III (Valerie) and Robert C. Van Vrancken (Billye Bob), as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

In her later years, Merle was a resident of Chateau Living Center, having previously lived at Inspired Living and Nouveau Marc. She touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate are greatly appreciated, continuing Merle’s legacy of care and compassion for others.

Merle will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the kind souls who cared for Merle over the years. Your warmth and dedication brought her immense joy and peace.

The service will take place on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. The interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, which is located on the same grounds as the funeral home.
