Michael Henry Foto III passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 73. Born in New Orleans on February 8, 1953, to Michael Henry Foto, Jr. and Gloria Papa Foto, Michael was known for his gregarious, fun-loving personality and his deep love for sports, music, food, and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Susan Marie Foto.
After graduating from Ecole Classique High School where he was on the baseball team, Michael channeled his passion for music into a career, spending several years working in the music industry in both New Orleans and Los Angeles.
Later, he brought his friendly energy to the local food industry. For 19 years, Michael worked at his family-owned grocery, Ferro’s Food Store in uptown New Orleans, where he was well-loved by his customers. After the closing of Ferro’s, he then was employed at Dorignac’s Food Center, where he became manager of the seafood department. Showing his deep devotion to family, Michael later retired to care for his mother until her passing.
Michael is survived by his maternal first cousins, Frank Cusimano, Jr. (Judy), Gary Cusimano, Dana Cusimano Farley (Michael), and Carin Cusimano Evans (Paul), along with a large extended family, who loved him dearly.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff and caretakers at St. Margaret’s Daughters Home for the compassionate care they provided Michael over the past six and a half months.
