

Brother Michael Joseph Livaudais, FSC, age 74, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 7, 2023. He was born on November 5, 1948. Brother Michael graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School’s first graduating class of 1966 and entered the Novitiate in Lafayette, Louisiana, and took his final vows in October 1976. He received a Triple Major B.A. from the College of Santa Fe in Theater, English and Theology in 1971. Brother Michael received his Master’s Degree in Theater Arts - Directing from Northwestern University, Chicago, 1978. He taught at St. Paul’s School in Covington, 1971 - 78, then De La Salle High School 1978 - 1995, Christian Brothers High School 1995 - 2010, De La Salle 2010 - 12, Archbishop Rummel High School 2012. Brother Michael became District Director of Vocations 2012 - 13, in August of 2013, he became Director of Christian Brothers School (City Park Campus) until 2020. He was sent to Holy Family Community during the Covid outbreak, where he retired. Brother Michael was a founding member of the Genesian Players at Rummel High School. Formed La Troupe De La Salle at DLSHS in New Orleans and Brothers On Stage at Christian Brothers HS in Memphis. During his teaching career he directed his students in over 160 plays, from Musicals and Comedies to Shakespeare. Brother Michael along with some other teachers would travel to NYC over the Christmas Holidays for the Theater students to experience a Broadway Play. He loved God, family, teaching theater and being a Brother.
Brother Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. Livaudais and Wynn Claire Boyd Livaudais; his brother, Mark Joseph E. Livaudais.
He is survived by his brothers, Ronald Livaudais (Kathy) and Kenneth Livaudais (Rachelle); nieces, Amanda, Melissa, Valerie and Jeanne; grand-nephews, Brett, Joey, Tyler, Roy and Brodie.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mary, Tami and all of the caregivers at Holy Family Community.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 10am - 1pm, followed by Mass at 1pm. Internment will take place immediately following Mass in Metairie Cemetery. Rev. Msgr. Frank J. Giroir, to officiate services.
