

Mona Frances Eyraud Kronlage passed away in her beloved home surrounded by family on November 4, 2021.Through the course of her life she was known as Mona, Mom and endearingly Memé by her grandchildren and great grandchild. She is survived by son, Curtis “Curt” C. Kronlage; four grandchildren, Kailin M. Kronlage (Brent), Carter C. Kronlage, Memphis A. Kronlage, Canon C. Kronlage, a great granddaughter, Isabella Rose Bowman; sister, Michéle Kiefer; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Eyraud and June Kronlage; nieces, Kyna Kiefer, Karen Wilhelm, Rebecca Kronlage, Susan Lansen, Kay Escher, Janice Sigur, Jane Millet, Pamela Wright; sibling, Nix Eyraud; nephew, Jason Eyraud, Albert “Al” Kronlage, Jr., Tyrus Dolese, Jr., Gregory “Greg” Dolese; as well as extended family in France/Germany, including Lise Colin, Claire Delpont, Sonya and Pierre Castel, Josiane Mathian, Fabienne Mathian, Laraunce and Manuele Rampon and Zigrid “Ziggy” Kronlage.
Mona was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles A. Kronlage, Jr. and her beloved son, Craig M. Kronlage; her mother, Gladys Dupont Eyraud, and father, Lucien Eyraud, Sr.; brothers, Lucien Eyraud, Jr. and Christian Eyraud; brothers-in-law Tyrus Dolese, Sr. and Albert Kronlage Sr. , and sister-in-law Doris Dolese and nephew Michael Eyraud.
Mona was born in New Orleans and raised in Lyon, France where she attained her education. She returned to New Orleans in her early 20s where she met and married Charlie. She was a homemaker first and foremost. She was a substitute teacher for the New Orleans School Board, and often taught French. She then worked for the State of Louisiana Tourism Commission where she was eventually promoted to Director of the Southern District of Louisiana.
More important to her than any career was the time she spent with her large family and friends. She adored traveling to France to visit her French relatives. She enjoyed hosting her French and husband’s German relatives over the course of 40 years. She loved gardening and was a member of the Lake Vista Garden Club, as well as member and volunteer for friends of City Park.
Mona was a gourmet cook. She loved cooking for large groups of family and friends. She expressed her love through cooking for others. Mona literally fed a “gang of 15 teenagers” (her two sons, cousins and friends) for one week, every summer, at the Landrieu camp on Lake Pontchartrain. She was the “carpool mom” who drove her two sons and all their friends to sporting and recreational activities. She loved caring for her dogs throughout her entire life. She was an avid artist who painted with mediums of oils and water colors.
Her family would like to acknowledge Mona’s lifelong friend, Gerald and Marie Perret, Donnalee Dupaquier, Audrey Kurst, Sylvia Otto, Orida Prieur, Ester Posey, Fred Gordon, Gayle Burchfield, Landrieu family, Calogero family, Ippolito family, Piglia family, Rodriguez family, Cangelosi family, Christenberry family, Lambert family., Parent family, Shea family, Paternostro family, Shey family and the Geledmeyer family.
A private memorial will be held and attended by immediate family.
