Neil P. Levith

Neil P. Levith, Esq. passed away on November 22, 2023, at his Metairie residence after a four-year battle with lung cancer. He was the husband of Terrilyn Canfill Levith and father of Chauntell Rizzuto and Rachel Rizzuto Anderson (Shawn). Grandfather of Raymond Spencer and Geoffrey Veit; Keirsten and Grayson Anderson and great grandfather of Raymond A. Veit. Neil was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Raymond D. Levith and Mildred Labovitz Levith. He is susvived by his sister Jan L Wachter (Paul) of Brookline, MA and brothers Earl Levith (Denise) of Zichron Yaakov Israel; Joe Levith (Ginny) of Palm Shores, FL and Alan Levith of Covington, LA. Neil moved to New Orleans when he was 13, attended Benjamin Franklin High School and Tulane University where he received both his undergraduate and Juris Doctorate degrees. He had his own practice until 2007 when he joined Bayou Title at their New Orleans East office where he worked until November of 2022. Neil was President of Chevra Thilim Synagogue from 1996 until 2022. He was instrumental in the merger of Chevra Thilim and Tikvat Shalom synagogues, which is now Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation. He served on the cemetery committee and several other committees throughout his life. He was a longtime member of the Chevra Kadisha of New Orleans. We would like to thank Wardell and Marlo Bourgeois for making sure we were able to get to M. D. Andrson for Neil’s appointments and taking us to dinner, so we had something other than hospital food. Also, thanks to Thomas Gennusa and Sandy Lassen for all they have done for our family as well as countless others whose kindness and support is much appreciated. Lastly, we would like to express our appreciation to the nurses of Heart of Hospice for their care. Kindly omit flowers; memorials are suggested to the Chevra Kadisha of New Orleans.
