A special love story resumed as our matriarch was reunited with her beloved husband in heaven to share their eternal reward. On April 8, 2022, at the age of 97, Noemie Marie Thiele Raymond, affectionally known as “Mimi”, peacefully departed this life at her home surrounded by family. Mimi was born February 2, 1925, in New Orleans, LA. She attended St Joseph Academy where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. On her 94th birthday she amazed her family by demonstrating the cheers she performed almost 80 years ago. At 16 she caught the eye of her brother’s best friend, Robert “Bob” Raymond. Their love blossomed but the romance was interrupted when our father joined the Navy to serve as a Marine Corpsman in the Pacific Campaign during WW2. Before he reported for duty, he made a solemn promise to return and marry her when his service was complete. The promise was kept, and they married on January 5, 1946, at Sacred Heart Church. One year later the first of their five children were born. Mimi was a devoted mother and homemaker as our father worked tirelessly to build the family jewelry business. She was a believer in modeling our family after the holy family and had a lifelong devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Therese of Lisieux. She was strong, affectionate, and the love she had for her children and husband radiated constantly. In 1967 Mimi and Bob moved to Neyrey Dr in Metairie where they became friends with neighbors and continued the close relationships for the rest of their lives. As empty nesters in 1984 they moved to Kenner, LA., became parishioners of St Philip Neri Catholic Church, and designed their home to facilitate large family gatherings. Mimi loved to entertain and would find any excuse to use her extraordinary cooking skills to bring family and friends together. No one ever left their home without a hug and kiss to convert them from stranger to family. Her passion in life was to her family and building strong ties to bind generations together. When Mimi was not working in the family business, Raymond’s Jewelry Creations, her time was spent visiting with family and friends or documenting our extended family in dozens of photo albums including one tremendous volume known as “The Book.” It is prominently displayed at home summarizing every significant event in our family’s history. Mimi and Bob created a family built around Christian values with the deepest of bonds among siblings, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that will go on forever. Mimi’s vocation as a wife, mother, and Catholic Christian woman was exemplary. She prayed unceasingly.
Mimi is survived by her brother Maurice Gerard Thiele; children Robert Benedict Raymond, Jr. (Elizabeth), Richard Stephen Raymond (Paula), Patty Raymond Dugas (Robert J.), Don Henry Raymond (Tonya), and Gregory Joseph Raymond (Charlene); grandchildren Jennifer Raymond Partenfelder (Bernie), Dennis Paul Raymond (Kristy), Kristen Raymond Joubert (Travis), Stephen Robert Raymond (Lela), Stephanie Claire Raymond Leblanc (Robert), Bridget Anne Raymond Wiederhold (Clark), Michelle Marie Dugas (Sean), Allison Marie Dugas Behan (James), Don Henry Raymond, Jr., Robert Joseph Raymond M.D. (Sarah), Alex Michael Raymond (Megan), Gregory Joseph Raymond, Jr., (Ashley), and Sarah Marie Raymond Stracke (Andrew); great-grandchildren Macy Partenfelder, Myles, Luke & Julia Joubert, Charlie Raymond, Josie Raymond, Braeden, Emily & Amelia LeBlanc, Lucy, Grant & Millie Wiederhold, Brennan & Claire Behan, Cecilia, Griffin, & Foster Raymond, Julia & James Raymond, William & Thomas Raymond, and Henry & Harrison Stracke.
