Patti was born on August 11, 1954, in New Orleans, Louisiana. While attending Southeastern Louisiana University, she met her future husband and lifelong partner, Tom Dowie. They married in January 1977, and eventually settled in Destrehan, Louisiana, where they raised their family and shared more than 49 years of marriage together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Candy White and Leonard Thompson, and her stepparents, JoAnn Thompson and Jim White.
Patti is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Dowie, her children, Reed Dowie (Tara) and Robert Dowie, her cherished grandchildren, Brennan, Rylan, and Daphne Dowie, and her siblings, Mike Thompson (Anny), Becky Wilson (Randy), Gary Thompson (Lucy), and Kelly Greer.
Patti’s greatest joy in life was her family. She had an unwavering love for her husband, Tom, her sons, Reed and Rob, her daughter-in-law, Tara, and her three grandchildren. She was deeply grateful for the love and support of the Dowie, Thompson, Fiorenza, Pfister, Arnett, and Klock families throughout her life.
Her extended family was equally important to her and included her Alpha Omicron Pi sisters and the LSU tailgating krewe with whom she spent countless Saturdays laughing and socializing. A devoted New Orleans Saints fan, Patti was a season ticket holder for 40 years. She also had a strong passion for philanthropy, particularly through her alumni involvement with her sorority, AOPi.
Patti worked for Delta Airlines for 30 years, including 15 years as head flight attendant for the New Orleans Saints charter flights. After retiring, she spent more than 15 years continuing her alumni work with AOPi, enjoying Saints and LSU games, and sharing her warmth and joy with family, friends, and her beloved pups—especially and most recently Itsi Dowie, who is already missing her mom.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at noon, with a Mass to begin at 2 PM, and interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. A reception will follow at the Lake Lawn Event Center to celebrate Patti’s life with family and friends.
