Peter is survived by his son, Grant de la Vasselais; his mother, June Schmalz Rees and stepfather, Joseph Harrison “Harry” Rees.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony de la Vasselais; grandfathers, Roger Vasselais and Frederick Schmalz; and grandmothers, Joan Bolton Walsh and Isabella Fryer Schmalz.
Peter was a graduate of the Choate Rosemary Hall School in Connecticut and Tulane University, where he received his BS and MBA. He was currently employed with Crete Transportation Company.
Peter was known for his love of surfing and was an avid fan of the Liverpool soccer team.
Private funeral service for family and close friends at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 315 Ridgelake Dr. in Metairie, Louisiana, on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 1:15 PM. The interment will follow the funeral service at Lake Lawn Park in New Orleans.
