Peter Matthew Smith died peacefully on December 14, 2021 in New Orleans, LA. Married for 50 years to the love of his life, Patricia Eigenbrod Smith. Patricia was without question a perfect complement to Peter. Together, they reared two wonderful children, Kristen Smith Cahoon (Dann) and Matthew Peter Smith. Born to Matthew Peter Smith and Patricia Clapp Smith, he is survived by his sisters, Carol Smith Calhoun (Jack) and Deborah Smith Snyder (Dennis).
Peter graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Chemistry. To fortify his educational experience, he went on to receive both Masters and Doctorate of Science degrees at Tulane University. In addition to his educational credentials, he was a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana. During his fulfilling career at W. S. Nelson & Company, Peter rose to Senior VP and Manager of the Environmental Engineering department.
Peter was highly respected by the New Orleans community and gave as much as he received.
