

Rachel Rumney Patrick, 63, of Kenner, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2025. She was born on June 14, 1962, and was the beloved daughter to the late James Rumney and is survived by her mother Jane (Rumney) Blancq.
Rachel attended Archbishop Chapelle High School before dedicating her life to education. She earned a teaching degree from Southeastern University in 1985 and gained a master’s degree at the University of North Texas in 1993. Rachel’s commitment and caring approach to students improved the lives of children and young adults for over 30 years at every destination she lived, including Metairie, LA, Katy, TX, Carrollton, TX, Edina, MN, West Lake Village, CA, and Bentonville, AR.
Rachel developed a strong fondness for music while working at Sound Warehouse in Metairie during college and after. She loved the beach, traveling, Winnie the Pooh, emerald jewelry, flowers, and the Christmas holiday. Rachel’s most favored activity and effort was spending time with her family. Over the years, trips to the beach, holidays, and special events were always where she was most happy.
Rachel is survived by her two sons, Jordan James Patrick (Sarah) and Dylan Earl Patrick (Jenna); her grandchildren, Ellie and Ruby, with two more on the way; and her siblings, Randy (Lisa) and Gary (Patti) Rumney, plus many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
