

Rachel Marie Scillitani, a native of New Orleans, most recently residing in Asheville, North Carolina, born March 27, 1992, passed away on May 21, 2021, at the age of 29. She is survived by her parents, Samuel Scillitani, Jr. (Karen Rosales) and Sandra Cahill (Elwood); her grandparents, Wesley and Mary Matherne; her brothers, Samuel “Trey“ and Michael Scillitani; her stepsisters, Erin Cahill (Craig Cetta), Kristen and Abby Cahill; her stepbrothers, Geovanny and Joseph Rosales; her Godchild, Henry Freeman; and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
Rachel graduated from Academy of the Sacred Heart in 2010 with honors in English. She earned a Bachelor's of Arts in English from LSU in 2014 and was a member of the Gamma Theta chapter of Phi Sigma Pi. Rachel was a gifted writer and enjoyed literature and the arts. She was a free spirited flower child who loved outdoor music festivals, 60’s-70’s culture and astrology.
Rachel was a beautiful, bright, thoughtful and loving daughter and sister. She loved dinosaurs, Disney, theme parks, the beach and music. She loved playing “name the artist and song” and discussing documentaries with her Dad. Rachel unconditionally loved and protected her brothers and was proud to be their older sister. She inspired them to be unique individuals. She lovingly impacted the lives of her family and all of those that knew her and will be deeply missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00PM. The interment will be private.
