

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis C. Trahan and Alice Anderson Trahan; his loving wife of 74 years, Muriel Scott Trahan; and his siblings, Dennis Trahan and Rita Trahan Flair.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Loralice Trahan Keeffe (Michael); his son, Richard Joseph Trahan, Jr. (Dale); his grandchildren, Brandon Lobell (Sarah), Myles Trahan (Chantel), and Brandon Williams (Tiffany); and his great-grandchildren, Zoë Lobell, Presley Lobell, Liv Lobell, and Socorro Trahan. He is also survived by his devoted nephew, Roger Meunier; loving niece, Susan Hasney; and his caring extended family member, Esther Bateman.
Richie was born in New Orleans on October 7, 1928. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Richie had an exuberance for life and lived it to the fullest, always in the company of the family and friends he loved.
He especially cherished time spent with his four great-granddaughters and his visits to the Keeffe Ranch in D’Hanis, Texas, where he found joy with his “adopted” extended family, the “Keeffe Ranch Brothers.” He particularly enjoyed traveling with Mooney and their lifelong friends. Richie also loved golf, fishing, shrimping, betting on horse races, following Tulane baseball, and spending time working in his beloved shed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Monty Glorioso for his compassionate care, Richie’s caregivers (Annie, Dimple, and Juanita), and the staff at The Blake Assisted Living, especially Tish.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
