Robert J. Abadie Sr.

Robert J. Abadie, Sr. is survived by his devoted wife, Betty Burns Abadie; his sons, Robert J. Abadie, Jr. (Rebecca), David M. Abadie (Bonnie); step-daughters, Debbie B. Caraway (David), Suzie B. Raggio (Chris), and Nancy B. Sizer (Glenn); and step-son, Albert G. Burns, Jr. (Lilyan). He is survived by his granddaughter, Autumn L. Abadie; step-granddaughters, Andrea C. Frank (Ryan), Lisa C. Tatum (Kyle), Christine C. Escobar (Ricky), Rae Lynn Burns and Meredith Sizer; grandsons, Preston T. Abadie, Quentin T. Abadie; step-grandsons, Dennis Caraway (Kim), Greg Caraway (Holly) and Jeremy Burns; and thirteen step-great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Diane Robichaux Abadie; his parents, Charles Felix Abadie, Sr. and Elsie Karl Abadie; and his brothers, Charles F., Jr. and Lloyd J. Abadie, Sr. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and Loyola University of New Orleans. He is a retired Certified Public Accountant. He retired as the Controller of Louisiana Power & Light Co. and New Orleans Public Service Inc. after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Louisiana Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. He taught accounting at Tulane University for several years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. He was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He received the Order of St. Louis Medallion in 1984. He truly loved his church and his country. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Monday, December 10, 2018 for 12:00 p.m. Visitation will open at 10 a.m. and continue until time for the Mass. The family requests Masses in lieu of flowers or donations to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and School, Destrehan, LA.
