Robert Whaley Breaux, beloved husband to Kim Breaux and eldest son of Charles W. Breaux Jr. and the late Joan Sicard Breaux, passed peacefully into eternal life on May 7, 2026, at the age of 72. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering devotion, service, generosity, and love for family and friends.
Bobby was passionate about fishing, animal rescue, sports — especially the New Orleans Saints — traveling, and hosting crawfish boils surrounded by family and friends. Wherever Bobby was, there was sure to be a celebration filled with music - lots of music - laughter, and unforgettable memories.
More than anything, Bobby cherished the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Kim. Theirs was a true love story — a steadfast partnership filled with adventure, compassion, community service, and the joy of building a family grounded in unconditional love. Bobby was a devoted father to Parker Breaux (Molly) and Kara Viberg, and a loving grandfather to Landon and Luca. His family was his joy. He was a protector and anchor, making those he loved feel safe, valued, and deeply cherished.
Together, Bobby and Kim helped found the NOLA Lab Rescue mission, helping countless dogs find loving homes and saving many from abuse and certain death. Bobby was a quiet hero who carried out these valiant efforts with genuine humility and compassion.
In his later years, Bobby embarked on unforgettable travels with Kim in their RV, “Bitzel’s Bus,” accompanied by their three rescue dogs and beloved cat. He loved being part of the Good Tyme Campers Group and discovering new places. Those journeys reflected Bobby’s adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for life’s simple joys.
Quick-witted, playful, charming, and always carrying a twinkle in his striking blue eyes, Bobby was the eldest of six siblings and the undisputed leader of the Breaux clan. His remarkable eidetic memory served him well in mathematics, accounting, puzzles, and the friendly song games he loved to play with his brothers, who shared his passion for music.
To know Bobby was to know both joy and strength. Outwardly playful and lighthearted, inwardly he possessed profound wisdom, quiet resolve, and extraordinary intelligence. He was the rock-solid foundation for so many who loved him, and that steadfast spirit remains his enduring legacy — one that will live on for generations to come.
Born at Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans on November 12, 1953, Bobby spent his early years in Jefferson Parish. He graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1972 and dedicated many faithful years of service to Sysco Corporation as a conscientious, dependable, and highly respected employee from 1980 until his retirement in 2020.
Following retirement, Bobby and Kim moved from Destrehan to Roseland, where they created a peaceful home that Bobby considered his own Garden of Eden — abundant with wildlife and countless species of birds he loved to identify. He especially delighted in his cherished charm of hummingbirds.
Bobby was the beloved brother of Susan Campbell (Frank Fairbanks), JoAnn Loupe (Scott), and Kenneth Breaux, and the adored uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Hollingsworth (Sam); his brother, Charlie Breaux; and his nephew, John Paul Loupe.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Bobby's life on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The memorial gathering will be from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
Flowers are welcome, but the family asks that they are cat safe!
