OBITUARY

Robert Gerard Eble Sr.

21 September, 1928 – 5 December, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Robert Gerard Eble died peacefully on December 5, 2024, less than two weeks after the passing of his wife of 75 years, Betty Dupre. She was the light of his life; he never wanted her far from his side so it was fitting he followed her so quickly to heaven. They built a beautiful life and celebrated a marriage filled with love, commitment, and partnership. Their union was blessed with 4 children. He instilled in them the value of selflessness and hard work by his example.

After obtaining a degree from Louisiana State University in Forestry he worked for Rheem Manufacturing for his entire career, maintaining friendships with his colleagues for many years. After becoming an Eagle Scout he maintained his love of nature bird watching and traveling. He exposed his children to his love of nature by driving thousands of miles to every state and national park in the U.S. He was a little league coach, children's project builder, handy man and babysitter extraordinaire. He was always available for his children, grandkids and great grandkids.

Bob is survived by two of his children, Catherine (Philip) of Harahan, LA, and their three children Loren Monahan (Michael), Jason, and Nicholas (Stephanie); and his son, Robert, Jr. (Melanie) of Aiken, SC, and their children Cate, Gerard, Renee (Richard) and Andre (Laura) and son-in-law Afshin Chamasmany (Arian and Mia).

Bob’s greatest joy was his family. He lived long enough to enjoy his ten great-grandchildren, Brady, Finn, Michael, Clementine, Sylvie, Asher, Logan, August, Declan and Cora.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrietta Cronan and Bernard, sisters (Adele Ledet, Althea Perone, Marietta, and Rita Ernst) and brothers (John, Charles and Ben), daughter, Donna Chamasmany (Afshin) of Los Angeles, CA and youngest son, Herbert.

The family would like to give special thanks to his caregivers: Barbara Bratton, and most recently Ramona and staff at Peristyle Residence, and Kelly and staff at Heart of Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

A private Mass and burial was held on December 10, 2024 at Lake Lawn Funeral Home.
