Robyn Jean Ellis Guidry passed away peacefully while asleep on September 1, 2024, in Metairie, Louisiana at 41 years old. She was born in Winfield, Illinois to adoring parents Eugene and Nancy Ellis on October 2, 1982, but spent her childhood and young adult life in New Port Richey, Florida with her sister, Jamie. She was beloved socially as well as accomplished academically and athletically.
Robyn moved to New Orleans to attend Tulane University where she earned a BSM in Finance and was the recipient of the AB Freeman School of Business Dean's Honor Award for Service. She also pledged the sorority of Chi Omega and treasured the sisterhood it provided. It is here that Robyn made lifelong friendships, many of which became an extension of her family. Following her time spent at Tulane, Robyn became a financial consultant at Legg Mason, where she excelled professionally, and quickly transitioned to a financial advisor at Smith Barney where she met her husband, Scott. They were married on April 2, 2011, at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by loved ones. It is also on this day that she became a mother to Scott’s daughters, Nicole and Abigail. She embraced her role with her new daughters, spending much of her time at Metairie Park Country Day School and St. Michael Special School. On November 8, 2018, Robyn welcomed her son, Logan. Motherhood completed her, and watching her son learn and grow filled her soul with purpose.
In addition to taking care of her family and continuing her financial career, Robyn was passionate about traveling the world with her husband, cooking too much food, and making those around her smile with her infectious laugh. Her love of New Orleans continued to bloom, and the city became a part of Robyn, the place she chose to call her forever home. In addition to her love of the city, Robyn was an avid Saints fan, volunteer, Mardi Gras enthusiast, and even developed a bit of an accent. She also continued her education in her most recent years, earning the coveted title of Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor in 2021. Her premature departure will not dampen our memories of this incredibly wonderful, kind, compassionate, and beautiful woman. May we all keep her alive in our hearts and treasure her stories.
Robyn is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Ellis. She is survived by her husband Scott Guidry; her children Logan, Abigail, and Nicole; her mother Nancy Ellis; and her sister Jamie Ellis Webb.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Presbyterian Service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, at 1 PM. Visitation will begin at 11 AM.
