

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rodney D. Harris, age 70, on February 11, 2025. Rodney, a resident of Metairie, was known for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and trusted in Him for eternal life.
He was born October 13, 1954 in Mid-City New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Winston and Mariam Harris. Rodney was a graduate of Redemptorist High School in New Orleans, Class of 1972, and earned his Associate’s Degree from Delgado Community College. During this time he was a member of the Southern Rebel Drum Corps, the Bleu Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps where he would travel throughout the country and compete.
He is survived by his brothers, Winston Harris and Wayne Harris, with whom he shared many cherished memories.
Rodney was a devoted husband to Terez B. Harris and a loving father to Joshua Harris and Jacob Harris, who is married to Rachelle Harris. He was a proud grandfather to Samuel, Madeline, Hava, and a new grandbaby. Rodney will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and commitment to his family, always putting them first and providing for them with love and devotion.
Rodney worked for over 20 years as an operator at Valero Refinery, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. After retiring, Rodney enjoyed spending his time traveling with his wife, Terez, visiting his children and creating lasting memories with his loved ones.
Rodney had a passion for gardening, delighting in nurturing his plants, and found peace tending to his aquarium. With a gentle spirit, a good sense of humor, and an easygoing nature, he had a gift for making others feel comfortable and bringing laughter into any room. Rodney was always ready to lend a helping hand and made lasting friendships with his warmth and approachable demeanor.
Rodney's presence will be missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, care, and support will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
