Roger (“Mr. Larry”) Norman Lawrence Jaubert, age 76, of Destrehan, Louisiana, passed away on April 3, 2025. Larry was born on November 23, 1948 in New Orleans, to Roger Norman and Marie Eleanor Jaubert (Hezeau). He was the oldest of five children (Kathleen, Patsie, Steven, and Janis) and had a modest upbringing.
He graduated from John McDonogh Senior High in 1967, while working various part-time jobs. He then enrolled at Delgado Community College and received an Associate Degree in Business Administration in 1969. Larry decided to further his studies by enrolling at LSU, and after completing one semester, was drafted into the US Navy where he proudly served his country during Vietnam as a highly skilled member of its Construction Battalion, “Seabees”, from which he was honorably discharged in August 1971. He continued his studies at Loyola University, where he earned a BS in Business Administration in 1973, while working full time as a pharmacy manager and eventually working at the LA Department of Labor, where he rose to a supervisory role.
After experiencing his own personal IRS audit, Larry realized he could help people who were not versed in tax laws. He took a big chance by starting a small business with his wife, Alma. Aptly named Larry’s Income Tax, it became his passion and fulfilled his life until the end. After 42 years in business, Larry leaves behind a legacy of servicing the City of Kenner with his vast knowledge and wisdom as one of the most well-known and respected Enrolled Agents (a designation showing deep knowledge of tax law) in the area.
Larry was the loving husband of Alma (Evelyn) Henriquez Jaubert for 42 years and the beloved father of their two sons, Carlos (wife Judy), Ryan, and daughter, Michelle. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Blake (Madison) and Zachary, two great-granddaughters, Teresa and Felicity, as well as his siblings, nieces, and nephews.
He was a long-time parishioner and adorer at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, in addition to attending Mass in several neighboring parishes. He had a zeal for learning, having two graduate degrees (an MBA in 1978 and an MS in Tax in 2018, both from UNO), and furthering his faith as a devout Catholic, he was pursuing a third Master’s degree, in Pastoral Studies, from Loyola University, as he wished to help with religious studies in his parish. He would often say, “if you were not constantly learning something new, you were not truly living out life”.
When he was not turning dreams into reality, Larry enjoyed gardening and growing seasonal vegetables, reading and watching science-fiction (in particular, Stephen King), being a Trekkie, relaxing with family and friends, and spending time with his fur-girls Mia, Mielita (Lita), and Ciara.
The family thanks the staff at Ochsner, the VA hospital, and DaVita Chateau for providing care and overseeing his health throughout his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Mass at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by a Mass at 1:00 p.m. with Navy Veteran honors.
