
Rudolph Theodore “Teddy” O’Dwyer, III died peacefully from heart failure surrounded by his loving family on February 26, 2016. Born in New Orleans, LA on May 7, 1947, he was the eldest son of Rudolph “Rudy” Theodore O’Dwyer, Jr. and Juanita Pfister O’Dwyer who predeceased him. He is survived by his brothers, Ronald Raymond (Debbie), Joseph “Jay” Emile (Marcie), his sisters, Linda Juanita Smith (Richard), and Mary Angela Rowan (Joe). He is also survived by his eight nephews: Richard, Ryan and Kennedy Smith, Rev. Ronny, SJ, Christian, and Michael O'Dwyer, Jonathan and Christopher Rowan, and his nieces Jenna and Julia O’Dwyer and many great nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Loyola University where he was a member of The Men of Beggars fraternity. His professional career included many years at Jesuit as a professor of T.V./Radio Broadcasting, English, Speech, and Diction, and then as an Executive of Pan American Life Insurance Company. He will also be remembered as the narrator of the Sunday Mass broadcasted over WWL Radio from Holy Name of Jesus Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations to the Jesuit Seminary Fund are preferred.
