Salvadore C. Giovingo, Jr., passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 80. He was a lifelong resident of Kenner, La. After high school, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He served as an officer for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and later became business owner of Giovingo Trucking and Soft Rock, Inc., doing business as 22nd Street Bar in Metairie La.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, JoAnn Silva Giovingo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Salvadore C Giovingo, Sr and Gladys Childs Giovingo; sister, Janelle Giovingo Bordelon; brothers, Samuel Arbrey Barnhart, Gerald Barnhart, and Wayne Barnhart; and step son, Ray Keith Constantine Jr.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Heart of Hospice, particularly Becky Pujol, RN, Cherryl Scott Smith, Jessica Moreau, Paige Rahn, and Duane Gidney, Chaplain.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM. The graveside service will follow at 2 PM in Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans.
