

Mrs. Sibyl McGee Morgan White, age 92 years, died on Monday, April 2, 2018, at her home in Metairie, La. due to natural causes. She was born in New Orleans on October 7, 1925 to the late Jesse Chandler McGee, an attorney, and Sibyl Weller McGee. She grew up here graduating in 1946 from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Professionally, at the end of WWII, she set up the financial arrangements at Tulane for those students returning from service who chose to live on campus, and she originated a summer camp for the children of University staff and faculty members.
After divorcing her first husband in 1955, she was appointed Financial Secretary of the Tulane University School of Medicine in charge of all scholarships, fellowships, departmental budgets and grant budgets under the supervision of her mentor, Dean Maxwell E. Lapham, M.D. She left Tulane in 1962 to become Secretary-Treasurer of a manufacturing company
co-owned by her mother.
In 1964, she married Donald L. (Don) White, a contractor. She remained with her mother’s company until 1985 after which she became fully committed to her volunteer activities serving on the Boards of Lafreniere Park Foundation, the Salvation Army Advisory Board (Kenner/Metairie Branch), Odyssey House, WRBH-Radio for the Blind and Print Handicapped, Jefferson Performing Arts Society and Spay Mart. She particularly enjoyed chairing and working on fund-raisers for the above as well as for the New Orleans Museum of Art.
She and Don were happily married for 42 years before he succumbed to Alzheimer’s in 2006.
Survivors include her son, Jesse B. Morgan, III, his wife Casandra and their children, Sibyl and Jesse, IV; her daughter, Sibyl Victoria (Vicki) Morgan; her stepson, Donald L. White, Jr., his wife, Michele and their son, Donald L. (Tres) White, III.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
