Sidney Joseph Canepa, 86 years old peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. He was a Korean War Navy veteran and retiree of Chevron Oil Company. Beloved husband of Gwendolyn Reich Canepa for over 59 years. Loving father of Sherry Canepa VanDenburgh (William). Grandfather of Daisy Whitfield VanDenburgh and GiGi Meriwether VanDenburgh. Preceded in death by his parents Sidney John Canepa and Sadie Lucille Rees. Loving brother of Stanley Canepa, Carol Hollier, Elaine Calvo, Sara Oubre, Katherine Gonzales, and the late Shirley Vaughn. Also loved by numerous nieces and nephews. “Joe” was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie, Louisiana for over 50 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM.
